In October 2012, YouTube changed its methodology for privacy settings on videos and channels, moving from a hidden/public account model to tying your YouTube account to your Google account or Google+ Profile. Privacy settings for videos are handled on a video-by-video basis, and there are a few more options as the service integrates with Google+.
