The MDF file format is the proprietary format for the Alcohol 120% application. If you are a Mac user, there is no native way to mount an MDF file, and no way to install the Alcohol 120% application. Since MDF and ISO files are similar, changing an MDF file extension to ISO allows a Mac computer to mount the file with the Disk Utility application.
