Phone cloning allows a cellphone to operate on the cellular service of another phone, referred to as the target phone, often unbeknownst to its owner. After cloning, the target phone’s electronic serial number, or ESL, is altered, facilitating fraudulent phone calls on a second mobile phone that lacks cellular service of its own. Verizon’s cellular network is secured with authentication, which dramatically reduces incidents of cloning. Although authentication makes a network secure, it does not prevent all cloning attempts. Utilizing a Verizon phone’s PIN code and lock feature is paramount for cloning protection. Writer Bio
