When Apple first released the iPhone in 2007, it was not necessary to organize apps into folders because few were available and 11 screens was plenty of room for most users. However, by 2011 Apple had registered over 10 billion app downloads, demonstrating the need for Apple to provide a way for users to organize their apps. With the release of iOS 4, Apple announced folder capabilities. Folders allow you to organize your apps into groups containing up to 12 apps. This allows you to place all of your games in one folder, all of your utilities in another folder, all of your financial apps in another folder and so on. You can have up to 176 different folders.
