HP printers use ink cartridges to produce documents and photographs. In the event that a cartridge needs to be changed, HP provides replacement black and color cartridges for purchase. These cartridges are numbered, in order to display the printers that are compatible with it. HP’s 96 black inkjet cartridge is compatible with multiple printers in HP’s Deskjet, Officejet and Photosmart lines.
